Deus ex Machina, in the aftermath

Mission Complete
Well, Until they find out... but they won't find out.. will they......

The players made their way via Dung Chow’s Whirlwind spell to Uzure overland without much incident. Taking care to avoid being spotted.

Meanwhile Julius made us of his In-Agata-Da-Vita ritual and quickly made is way to Uzure.

There he talked with the townspeople and found that the economy and picked up although people who were unskilled at mining or providing services to the miners were suffering. Additionally crime among the unskilled or those who were not hired by Foreman Durin began to rise.

Julius then made his way throughout town making his presence known. Dressed in his fine clothes he was the target for several attempts but he needed to merely motion to his sword and they backed off.

When the rest of the group arrived, they ate at the inn and chatted with the people.

That night, Julius again used his In-Agata-Da-Vita ritual to travel to Kaine and check on the situation there. He also intended to talk with Duke, but when he got within the radius of the Corrupting Nether Creep that had overtaken the city he was shaken from his ritual and found himself 10 miles from the city.

Julius found piles of rotting corpse and that the city was almost growing dark spires in the distance. Sicked and shaken by the sight he returned to Uzure and went immediately to Catherine.

Julius then told Catherine that he was unable to reach her father and feared the worst.

The next morning he told the rest of the party and everyone agreed that they needed to make it to Kaine as soon as possible.

Catherine went to arrange for mundane travel for the group.

The next morning the made their way to the mine where they found it transformed and highly effeicient. Apparently Foreman Durin was extremely good at his job and had hired wood workers to build a warehouse and additional buildings. He had also hired an Accountant named Ames that was very good at his job, but a little over eager.

They made their way into the mind and found that the temple had been cleared out. The miners had also begun digging down in a strip mining method deeper in the mine and they made their way to the bottom.

There the found Foreman Durin and he was very happy to see them. As they walked back to the surface, Durin and Ames presented their ideas for improving the success of the mine. As well, Julius made it known that a goal of their investment in the mine was to invest in the community and help it recover. They dumped all of the gold and platinum they had made in Musevera on St. Luis and Ames, and gave them the goal of setting up an Iron refining facility and a moonsilver refining facility. As well they should try to get work for anyone who wanted to work with the goal of rising the community up.

When the group got back they found Catherine had arranged for them to act as guards for a small caravan and got under way to Kaine.

Meeting with the Count

The group searched the warehouse and found some great equipment as well as a pile of gold.

They also found papers detailing Dark Cheshire’s involvement in a black market organ trade throughout the region.

Evidence in hand, the players rushed to the authorities and gave over the information. Despite their success the town was still reeling from the appearance of a demon that stole their monster. There was rioting in the streets, but the players were too tired and went back to their inn to sleep.

The next morning they made their way to the Count’s Castle and met with him. Having solved many of the problems in the area they were admitted to meet him almost immediately.

There the doors were quickly shut fast behind them in the audience chamber and all off the courtiers were ushered out.

They found the count to be very open and forthright, telling them that yes, Isador was his man at arms and he appreciated their efforts to see him found innocent of the crimes leveled against them.

That said, their efforts were largely undermined in the final day of the trial.

They also found that Dark Cheshire actually worked for the count as a large source of income for his organization.

He then told them that their suspicions were true and that he was in fact a supernatural known as Ophiel. A dukzarist of considerable power that leads an organization known as Samael. He then introduced his Countess as the Fallen Angel Dinah, who he said was more of a colleague than a spouse.

He then explained that his organization was for the support and betterment of supernatural creatures throughout creation.

The players told him of their involvement with the Les Jager and their affiliation with the Wissenchaft. They offered their aid, but Ophiel remained dubious. Offering his aid to the party should they meet in the future.

The players also offered to help in his endeavors. The Count then gave them his signet ring as proof of his death and then teleported them back to their Inn room.

There they found a chest filled with powerful gems and money.

A trial continued...
The Final Clues....

The heroes were able to defeat their long time rival Dark Cheshire. As he died he fell backward into the acid and the variety of chemicals that had mixed on the floor of the foundry.

In a hurry to quickly search the complex, they burst into the main workshop and were surprised to find a group of mongrel men working at the workbenches. The mongrel men were equally surprised, but they had been hired to protect the establishment so they leapt to defend the foundry.

Stormscales was quickly surrounded and the rest charged into the doorway to attack the rest of the party. They attacked with ferocity but were unable to match the heroes might. Julius let out a mournful dirge that attacked the mongrel men at their very essence and made their ears bleed. While Dung Chow began powering up. Catherine held back regaining her strength from the battle with Dark Cheshire.

After defeating a few of the mongrel men, Stormscales ran deeper into the room and the mongrel men gave chase. As they closed in Stormscales unfurled his wings and flew quickly back into the chemical storage plant.

At about the same time a operative from the Great Library was homing in on a new acquisition. He had been tracking rumors of Lost Logias in the region and had heard verifiable information that there may be one in this foundry. As he arrived to the gates he heard Dark Cheshire’s death scream. Alon quickly leapt over the 10 foot wall and approached the steel door that lead into the storage plant. As he opened the unlocked door he quickly leapt aside as thousands of gallons spill out of the door.

Apprising the situation, Alon leapt to the wall again and made his way toward the building where he climbed out to the reinforced window. He then smashed the window in and saw the heroes in combat with the mongrel men.

Just then there came a deep roar as a very large mongrel man appeared. He made his way with reinforcements to the doorway where the heroes had fallen back to, to form a better line of defense.

Hurling his war mattock at the nearest hero he yelled commands to attack Stormcrow and tried to turn the tide of the battle.

Alon jumped into the room and ran to Catherine’s defense, although it soon became apparent that she wasn’t really in danger as she brandished her blade, Ahur Vainya, It caught Alon’s eye, but his attention quickly turned to the attacking mongrel men.

Alon let loose a Peony Blossom attack and laid waste to the mongrel men, while Julius continued his song of death. Dung let loose with a flurry of blows and Stormcrow harried the mongrel men.

The heroes and Alon felt the the psychic link of the process click into place and the open channel of communication establish between them… The heroes don’t know who this person is but he began fighting beside them without a second thought and there were greater problems to deal with anyway…

As the battle raged on, the mighty heroes slew the mongrel men by the score. The leader of the mongrel men, Salik Sal waded into the melee, and began to attack the heroes. Stormcrow immediately attacked him and grappled him, almost as quickly, Dung Crow grabbed Salik Sal by the balls and proceeded to powerfully throw Salik Sal with grappled Stormcrow over the lake of acid that had filled the floor of the room.

Stormcrow quickly flapped his wings and kept them above the acid. Not particularly intelligent but wanting to save their leader the remaining mongrel men leapt to save their leader and fell into the acid.

Stormcrow held Salik Sal above the acid and threatened to drop him if he wouldn’t yield.

Will Salik Sal yeild?
bq). What will the heroes find in the Black Cat Chemical Foundry?
bq). What will happen to the monster on trial now that the heroes have freed him from the towns’ justice?
